Great view and location. Big room and comfortable bed.

Pros: The view was amazing. The room is big and the bed is comfortable and clean. The surrounding was very calm. The host wasn't there when I arrived but we managed and the young girl of the family was super accomodating with the check out.

Cons: The shower head was broken and the bath wasn't super clean, although I am sure I was just not very lucky because the room was super clean. Host doesn't know english.

Pros: The room was extremely clean and cosy. Geisa was a very nice host, she is nice, helpful, and she really cares about the guests.

Cons: Internet connection was not very good in the room

Pros: Friendly personnel, good breakfast, nice terrace with beautifull view, perfect location for hiking.

Cons: Although map says that there should be kiosk and shop, both were closed all the time I was there. When you come to Rui Vaz, bring your own supplies including bottled water. However, I drank tap water at the accommodation, water tasted good and I had no digest issues.

Laid back

Pros: We really liked the peace and quiet and simplicity at Recanto da Montanha. If you are looking for a local experience( rather than a big set up) then this is a good place to start. Our host Geisa was really sweet and helpful. Plenty of hot water and internet worked well

Cons: It's not easy to stock up once at Rui Vaz, and not much in terms of restaurants except a fairly pricey one further up the hill. There is a little shop run by Rosalinda for very basic stuff. For the rest you'll need to go to São domingos Could do with a little maintenance work.

Very nice house in the mountains

Pros: Very nice place to stay. Safe, clean, with running water and working electricity and Internet. There’s also private parking available. Basic breakfast is included and makes a good start of the day. The location is convenient for the mountain walks. We hired a car and used as a base to explore all the island. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The last kilometres of the road after leaving the main road is not asphalted but it’s wide and in very good condition . The view of the mountains around is very nice. Due to the mountains location the temperature is cooler than at the seaside which make the sleeping much more pleasant. We enjoyed our stay here and would come back.

Cons: There are mosquitoes in the rooms. The rooms are also quite humid (particularly those without windows), so towels or cloth will never dry. The sound insulation of the rooms is not particularly good .

Cons: Aspect extérieur défraîchi, un peu éloigné du seul restaurant du village quand on est à pied.

Geheimtipp in den Bergen mit top Preis-Leistungsverhältnis

Pros: Dieses Minihotel ist ein echter Geheimtipp für alle, die ihre absolute Ruhe in den Bergen mit tollen Wandermöglichkeiten haben wollen. Die Zimmer sind klein und absolut sauber und gut ausgestattet. Sensationelles Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und man kann zum Quinta de Montanha laufen und dort zu Abend essen, aber ist nicht so in deren Touristenrummel drin. Das Frühstück hier ist sehr liebevoll für jeden Gast zurecht gemacht. Das bisher beste WiFi auf meiner Kapverdenreise.
