Pros: The experience was unforgettable. It’s a great place to stay and truly a one-of-a-kind adventure. The host, Jose, is an incredibly kind and welcoming person. It’s absolutely worth staying here, being so close to the volcano makes the experience amazing

Cons: Just miss a hammock to rest and chill after the volcano hike

Pros: Great location overlooking the volcano. Considering where you are (on the side of a volcano), the room was comfortable, clean and has everything you need. In December it gets cold, we were provided an additional duvet. Joseph is an excellent guide and I would definitely recommend him if you wish to climb the volcano. Joseph is also voluntarily training up local kids to help out in the tourist industry!

Cons: Sorry my friend, but you should never be allowed near a kitchen 😂

Pros: The location is amazing. The room was clean and functional. Food was healthy, and portions were big. Jose helped us planning our hikes around. I highly recommend ! Oh, there is two super cute cats.

José Doce is the best!

Pros: The perfect place and guest to discover Chã das Caldeiras! José Doce helps in everyway!! Our flight was antecipated and José climbed the vulcano with us during the night allowing us to experience the sunrise.

Cons: Nothing. Its a very simple hotel but has the basics and is very clean.

Pros: We took room with bathroom and shower. Room was absolutely amazing. José was there for all our needs. He is a man with golden heart for people. He also guided us to Pico. I highly recommend

Disconnect from your European mindset and let Jose take you on a beautiful adventure

Pros: We stayed for two days at Jose’s place and it was exceptional. You get to sleep inside the crater, right next to the Fogo volcano, which you can climb. Jose is also a local guide and can take you up the volcano for a fair price, sharing fascinating stories and insights about the volcano and its eruptions along the way. Above all, Jose is a truly wonderful human being: kind, joyful, and full of stories to share. He is also an excellent cook, so don’t hesitate to have your meals at the guesthouse.

Cons: We only stayed two nights instead of three, which we slightly regret. Of course, the comfort is rudimentary, but that is completely secondary compared to the human experience you will share with Jose; especially if you are open to socializing with him and the other residents.

Un lieu authentique qui invite à l’émerveillement

Pros: José nous accueille avec toute sa gentillesse, son humour et son « no stress ». Ses talents s’exercent également en tant que guide ou sculpteur ! Les chambres sont très bien et disposent d’une belle vue.L’espace commun est très agréable, on s’y sent comme à la maison !
