Pros: The ocean roof was a very pleasant stay! JC made sure we had everything ready even before we arrived. He was a very welcoming and caring host. The room are nicely equipped and perfect for a 2 week stay. There’s a pool on the rooftop and breakfast is served every morning. It was actually so comfy you might forget it’s Africa. But still, come there with the right expectations and you won’t be disappointed. 100% recommend.

Pros: Ocean Roof is brilliantly located in Santa Maria! Just a 5 minute walk from the Main Street, and less than 3 minutes to the beach. The accommodation is both clean and modern and JC is the perfect host / owner - a good balance of helpful, conversational but not intrusive, allowing you to rest and relax on holiday in an apartment with a roof top pool, and continental breakfast served daily on the roof from 8-10am. JC organised a taxi to meet us on arrival €20 it’s the easiest way to reach Ocean Roof, as well as providing us with a list of options to explore during our break. WiFi is available on the rooftop and considering we were in Africa, didn’t drop during our week’s stay!

Pros: JC is an amazing host from beginning to end . He sent lots of information before we arrived and arranged a taxi to pick us up at the airport . Friendly welcome , clean and spacious apartment with fridge and kitchen. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace , a great experience as fellow guests from 7 different European countries joined together and chatted . Roof terrace had sun loungers and pool. JC arranged any excursions and gave recommendations for restaurants he could not have been more helpful. Great location a few minutes walk to the beach and town centre . Sorry to leave after a great week .

Pros: Me and my friend were there 1 week and we had a great experience. The location is great and JC is a great host, always very helpeful. He gave us the best tips- from the best supermarkets to the best activities

Definitely recommend, host was excellent too

Pros: The Appartment was clean and had a big balcony. The host was really accommodating and made the holiday much more comfortable, showing us around on our first day, giving us ideas of what to do, organising the activities and even driving us around if he had the time. Would recommend 10/10

Cons: The Wifi was rather weak in the bedroom, worked fine in the living room though. Booking Also could’ve been clearer about the AC not being included in the price, I suggest getting it for 5€ a day because the barking dogs and mosquitoes can be annoying a times

Wonderful apartment in quiet and convenient location

Pros: We had a very relaxing holiday here. The apartment was well furnished and equipped. The location is very safe and perfect for the beaches, cafe’s, bars and restaurants. JC is a warm and welcoming host. He serves a continental rooftop breakfast in the sunshine by the pool. He is very happy to give suggestions and he arranged trips for us.

Pros: I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel during my trip to Cape Verde, and it was an unforgettable experience. Everything was simply perfect! The staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, always available for any request. The owner, in particular, was extraordinary: he helped us organize memorable excursions and personally took care of booking taxis for both our arrival and departure. This level of attention and care made our stay truly special. The room was spotless, spacious, and equipped with every comfort. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the immaculate cleanliness. The neighborhood where the hotel is located is quiet and well-served, perfect for relaxing and immersing yourself in the island’s beauty. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a stay in Cape Verde. Here, you’ll find not just a place to sleep but a true experience of hospitality. We will definitely be back! A well-deserved 5 stars!

I was travelling solo for the first time from the uk. I would recommend this accommodation to any female solo traveller.

Pros: New one bedroom apartment with kitchenette, living area and wrap around balcony. Minimally furnished but with everything I needed. Tiled flooring. A safe for valuables. Great location to access beaches and the town. I felt very safe walking back in the evening. Great sunbathing deck with sea views and a small pool to cool off.

Super modern hotel in Santa Maria

Pros: We had a wonderful stay at the OceanRoof. The apartments are modern, very clean and superbly equipped - very important for us: the comfortable and clean bed. The hotel is also very quiet and ideally located for us, right by the beach and also by AnguloBeach for water sports. JC is a really attentive host who was always helpful with many bookings such as car rental, taxi and restaurant tips. An absolute recommendation for a stay on Sal!

Great location, great host

Pros: The location was excellent only a few minutes walk from pedestrianised tourist street with bars and restaurants. Also only a few minutes from nearest beach. Proprietor JC very helpful and provided optional bread, juice, tea/coffee on roof every morning so you could ask him for info and sometimes meet other guests to exchange recommendations.
