Casa Familiar Pôr do Sol

Pros: I felt completely at home during my stay here. It's a lovely little house in the middle of a valley, pure peace. Margaret was lovely throughout, always kind and welcoming. Her cooking is fantastic, and she even gave me soup and chicken while I was checking out, which really shows the kind of person she is. If you want an authentic guest house experience with someone who genuinely cares about their guests, I'd definitely recommend this place!

Amazing stay!

Pros: I loved Margarita and loved the place there! The views are completely insane!!!!! She cooks really nice breakfast and she makes your stay so familiar and comfortable! Thank you very much for your hospitality!!!!

Definitely your base to stay in Santo Antão

Pros: The coziness, the view, the atmosphere. You get to feel at home while experiencing the best of Santo Antão, the peace, the greenery and very nice home cooked food by the kind and very attentive host. The rooms are spacious and the bed comfortable. The homemade breakfast with the view is cherry on top of the cake.

Cons: This review should have been a 10/10. But it’s not just by details. One is the price, I ended up paying more because I selected a family room which was the only option available but even at that price per room, the rates are not low when we speak Cape Verde terms. The prices are at Europe level for what you get. I know we were going to stay in the mountains, so of course water pressure would be a problem, and sewer smells etc, I expect these as part of where I am and type of accommodation I choose, but than the prices need to follow accordingly which they don’t mostly trough out Cape Verde islands, the price are getting inflated.

Guest to a lovely family

Pros: Margaret is truly amazing. She goes above and beyond to make your stay as authentic as possible, and she's an exceptional cook. Everytime we talked about the Cape Verdian culture en cuisine, and she found out we did not yet have a specific traditional dish, she made sure that it was on the menu the next day. The view and calm are amazing. Margaret has a vast network of locals, so she can arange rides and guides if desired. The hikes in the vicinity are magnificent. Truly the most special stay of our holiday in Cape Verde.

Cons: To be honest, the other guests we were with :) You have to understand that with this stay, you're a guest of Margaret's family. She will do everything in her power to make your stay perfect, but it is not an hotel. The other guest were not appreciative or involved with Margaret, and declined all her help (specific issue), but somehow were still mumbling and moaning (They did not know I could understand their native language). If you're willing to be just a little social and are ready to be pampered, this stay will be amazing.

Pros: Small family run stay. Margareth is an amazing host, very welcoming and helpful. She gave us a lot of good tips about the area and cooked all the wonderful breakfasts and dinners (dinner is an extra, to be requested a day in advance). The view from the living room is unreal. The location is convenient for exploring Santo Antao by car, close to all the popular sights.

Cons: Small things but negligible for this price. The biggest inconvenience was that the water supply was not the most reliable which is characteristic for the area.

Pros: The hosts were amazing, lovely people. The food was great, both dinner and breakfast. The view was incredible.

Cons: Nothing to note.

Such a lovely place and amazing hosts

Pros: We truly loved our stay at Casa Familiar. Our room was really clean and comfortable, with an amazing view on the mountains. Margaret and her husband were so lovely and friendly, they cooked us delicious diner and helped us organise our hikes and taxi (booking and even negotiating the price for us). For sure when we will come back to Cabo Verde, we will go to Casa Familiar again ! 100% recommended Thank you again Margaret for taking such good care of us, hopefully see you soon !

Pros: The room was clean, they have hot water in the shower, the breakfast was really good. My bedroom was huge with a big closet. The owner lives in the building, she is really nice. The living room is nice with a very beautiful view on the mountains. The neighborhood is safe and quiet.

Cons: the internet doesnt work in the bedroom, only in the living room.

Pros: We had a wonderful stay. Family atmosphere, simple breakfast, yet everything you need. Great view into the mountains and very nice community area.
